The flights are booked and the bags are packed, but what about Fido and Fifi? While domestic helpers or family and friends may be readily available to care for the pets when their owner go on holiday, many indulgent pet owners now choose to spoil their fur babies with a staycation (complete with a spa treatment) of their own.

“Most of our clients are discerning and sophisticated and they really treat their pets as family,” says Richard Wee, marketing director of Petopia, which bills itself as a centre of holistic pet wellness.

Suites @ KLOUD 9, Petopia’s pet boarding facility, has 30 rooms that can take in 50 dogs and one room that can house one cat or several cats from the same household. Each Cosy Suite, measuring 25 sq ft, is climate-controlled, scented with essential oils and equipped with a web-cam that allows pet owners 24-hour access to see what their animal companions are up to. Adjoining rooms can be opened up to form bigger Family Suites.

In addition to boarding, spa treatments such as Clay Pack Far Infra-red Therapy and Medec Electrolysis Detox Dips are also available to complete the pampering experience.
